Responsibilities:
ABOUT THE ROLE
We’re searching for a proactive and dedicated Area Manager to oversee our Barwon program at MacKillop Family Services. Based in Geelong, this position involves managing and delivering outcomes for Barwon Out of Home Care, Leaving Care Program and Case Management.
In this position, you’ll support the General Manager in leading and directing the program towards optimal client outcomes by effectively utilising organisational assets, staff, and volunteers. Your responsibilities include leading and developing a team to deliver high-quality innovative programs and services and fostering a positive work environment.
A key aspect of the role it to ensure that staff and volunteer grievances, client complaints and allegations are managed fairly and in accordance with MacKillop Family Services policies and procedures.
The Area Manager is an integral part of the MacKillop Management Leadership Team and reports directly to the Director. This position does require occasional travel around the area and to Melbourne as part of the role.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and evidence of senior level experience in social work, public policy, child protection, out of home care or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated understanding of the provision of contemporary practice and therapeutic models of Out of Home Care.
- Evidence of high level organisational and management skills to develop and improve programs to meet and/or exceed targets and deliver effective and successful outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience as a member of a leadership team with the ability to work cross functionally at senior levels to deliver outcomes; proven networking, engagement and relationship building skills and the ability to represent the organisation in various forums.
- A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people and their families
