The Ministry of Defence employs over 50,000 Civil Servants. Within that, the Army Top Level Budget (TLB) employs around 7,000 MOD Civil Servants located at over 300 locations. Ours is a diverse workforce, with roles ranging from trainers, human resources, teachers, and psychologists to storekeepers, financiers, project and programme managers, and policy secretariat staff. There are many different functions and professions delivering key outputs for the Army. As such using data to aid understanding of our workforce is vital.
Defence Children Services (DCS) has a vacancy for a Recruitment Officer, to work closely with our Head Teachers, Setting Managers and Specialist Teams, DCS, to enable them to sufficiently resource teams in a fair, timely and efficient way that supports continuity of education overseas.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The DCS Recruitment Manager is part of our Headquarters team, based in Wiltshire and focuses on being the point of contact for all DCS recruitment. They will provide advice and guidance on all stages of recruitment, manage relationships between all relevant parties, ensure activity is undertaken within appropriate timescales and monitor and report on all recruitment activity.

Responsibilities:

THE POST HOLDER’S KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND MAIN DUTIES ARE:

  • Be our recruiting Subject Matter Expert (SME) for our Teacher and Soulbury Non-Standard Occupational Grades (NSOGs);
  • Provide SME direction and guidance through the street to seat recruitment stages;
  • Manage relationships with key enablers, including the DCS SAFE Team for Safer Recruiting principles, Regional Command Recruitment and DBS Recruiting teams;
  • Monitor and Report on recruitment progress, for the weekly Establishment Committee, using trackers;
  • Conduct quality assurance of recruitment business cases, adverts, sift and interview packs and on-boarding;
  • Line management of the DCS Recruitment clerk.
