Responsibilities:

ASD’s Active Cyber Defence Branch is seeking motivated individuals to exercise a significant degree of independence and perform an important leadership role. They will be responsible for influencing and developing strategies, policies, priorities and operational practices in support of ASD’s objectives based on high-level decision making and judgement. They will engage regularly with their counterparts domestically and internationally, to develop strategic partnerships and collaborate on strategies and policies in support of joint operational concepts and capabilities.
In this role, you will provide strategic advice to senior management and stakeholders as well as lead and assume accountability for complex work, including the delivery of initiatives that have strategic, political, and operational significance.

Key Duties of the ASD EL2 Mission Alignment and Policy Director:

  • Lead, plan, and manage the development, advocacy, and implementation of policies and processes on novel and innovative capabilities and initiatives to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead and sustain key active cyber defence related partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, including national and international partner agencies, and represent the ASD at relevant national and multinational meetings and activities.
  • Manage and lead a team, including providing clear and consistent communication, setting clear performance and behavioural standards, managing performance, delegating responsibility and guiding and developing people.
  • Advise stakeholders on the ASD and national security interests and issues, including identifying emerging challenges and making policy recommendations within a complex strategic and international environment.
  • Develop, and implement strategic guidance and policy to deliver programs, projects and other activities related to strategic and international engagement objectives.
  • Support cyber defence operations through the management of operational authorities and governance including legislative, regulatory, legal, and compliance issues, and brief to ASD seniors when required for clearance to Government.
