Description:

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Experience assembling products or items using drawings and written instructions.
  • Beginner level proficiency of the types of materials used in instrument assembly such as, screws, bolts, washers, nuts, fasteners, and tools used to secure them.
  • Beginner level proficiency of units of measurement, tool types/uses such as, screw drivers, wrenches, socket sets, and pliers.
  • Beginner level proficiency reading and understanding basis blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language used in drawings and specifications.
  • Safe and productive use the hand tools needed to perform the task at hand such as: sockets/wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, crimpers, riveters, or
  • Safe and productive use of power wrenches, power screwdrivers, drills, and riveters.
  • Effectively follows written and spoken instructions needed for proper assembly.
  • Well-organized and can work in a logical sequence of instructions/steps.
  • Checks the work quality of a finished item and collects information to compare it to expected parameters to determine whether work meets defined quality standards.
  • Can process information objectively, identify patterns, and attribute root causes of common assembly issues. Recognizes when to escalate to other departments. Technical aptitude and can understand the basic components of the assembly and how the mechanical, electrical and hardware fits together.
  • Has the manual dexterity needed to handle small, delicate parts needed for assembly.
  • Can read and interpret the meaning of work instructions on technical diagrams or schematics. Can discern small print and/or parts at a close distance with or without vision aids.
  • Can work with fine precision and attention to detail to ensure all components and parts are assembled correctly and there are no defects.
  • Can work at an efficient pace to ensure time and prioritization of tasks.
  • Can freely walk around, bend, kneel, reach, pull/push, and balance while assembling larger cabinets.

Responsibilities:

POSITION PURPOSE:

Assembly Technician supports the final assembly department in the manufacture of Micromeritics products. Workers in this role keep downstream assemblers supplied with high-quality subassemblies, housings, or instrument components.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Using the supplied parts lists, the Assembly Technician organizes their work area in an organized way to put together and assemble subassemblies and cabinets to feed downstream operations. The Assembler counts and checks parts to assure all components are available to put together their assigned products, and organizes their work area, lays out components / parts, and builds to specifications their assigned assembles or housings.

POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Organize tools, parts bins, working surface, and general work area to complete daily work goals.
  • Prior to starting work, counts delivered parts and checks against parts needs—reports missing items and prepares material requisitions to the stockroom for missing parts.
  • Reads and follows manufacturing procedures, work instructions and drawings to assemble and build sub-assemblies and cabinets using hand tools, rivet tools, and hand-held screwdrivers tools.
  • Follows company workmanship standards and recheck completed work to confirm all defined specifications, tolerances, and standards are achieved.
  • Continuously monitors work quality and work area and escalates quality or environmental health and safety concerns, problems, or issues to management.
  • Actively engages in and participates in daily meetings, quality events, job-related training, company provided training.
  • Enters work time in labor tracking system(s) for accurate labor cost allocations.
  • Using carts or by hand, move finished work to the appropriate location or to the company stockroom.
