Analyst, Alternative Asset Management Team
HIMCO is seeking an Analyst within the Alternative Asset Management (AAM) Team, which manages HIMCO’s $12 Billion Alternative Asset Portfolio (private credit and equity, excluding commercial real estate). The individual will be responsible for administration and reporting for Private Placement Debt (Reg 4a-2), Private Credit (MM Loans), Private Equity (PE) including venture capital and strategic opportunities and Infrastructure & Energy Transition. This candidate will be part of the centralized AAM Team and work closely with HIMCO’s Alternative Asset investment team while also maintaining strong working relationships with multiple functional groups across the firm.
The AAM Team, along with Alternative Asset Sector Heads, will lead growth initiatives across the platform in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. This position is based in our Hartford, CT office.
This role will have a Hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of working in the Hartford, CT office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in trading and administration of debt and equity securities within the Alternative Asset Portfolio which includes various sectors across private debt and equity.
  • Support key asset management functions related to trading, data security, settlement, funding and payment processing.
  • Asset master security set up, including key data inputs, tracking and ongoing data integrity.
  • Trade input, settlement, funding and related payment processes (including PE drawdowns and capital calls, new investments, ongoing payment research and analysis).
  • Solve registration and payment issues on secondary trades or re-registrations.
  • Assist in the preparation of materials related to Accounting, Pricing and Performance for Alternative Asset securities.
  • Prepare cash flow forecasts.
  • Assist with inputs and review of monthly pricing and performance.
  • Assist with the further ramp-up of eFront System (recently installed alternative asset solutions which is part of Blackrock) to increase functionality related to Private Equity
  • Maintain policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for standardized and ad-hoc production and sector reporting. Assist with the preparation of marketing materials and client communications.
  • Build effective working relationships with internal Accounting, IT, Finance, Operations and Legal.
  • Conform to all guidance from Compliance and Legal and support Diversity Equity and Inclusion.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of relevant asset management experience preferably in both equity and debt securities
  • Ability to balance and prioritize multiple work task with strong organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical tools and ability to problem-solve and exercise good business judgment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products required, experience in Power Point, a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree and equivalent work experience

Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$90,000 - $110,000
