THE OPPORTUNITY
We are currently seeking an Assistant Accountant for a 12-month fixed term role, reporting to the Finance Manager. This position may suit a recent Accounting Degree Graduate or someone looking for their first commercial role after working for a couple of years in a Chartered Accountancy practice.
Working in the Finance Team, the Assistant Accountant is responsible for preparing month end reconciliations and journals to assist with monthly management reporting. Managing the fixed asset register and asset reporting, bank reconciliations, invoicing, GST returns, and stocktaking. You will also provide support to the payroll function to ensure fortnightly payroll is processed accurately and on time.
To be successful in this role you will:
- Be a team player and love mucking in wherever you are needed;
- Degree or Diploma in Accounting;
- Have working knowledge of tax information e.g. GST, PAYE;
- Have intermediate/advanced Microsoft Excel and Office skills;
- Have an eye for detail and be able to demonstrate accuracy with figures;
- Have communication skills that are second-to-none to maximise positive outcomes;
- Be committed to continuous improvement and be able to thrive in a changing environment.
