POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Exec Security, a leading provider of security services across Australia, is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Assistant Accountant to join our finance team. In this role, you will be integral in overseeing financial governance, regulatory compliance, and financial reporting, while supporting strategic decision-making processes. This role will contribute significantly to the company’s overall financial health and development by focusing on financial analysis, reporting, and strategic advisory. The Assistant Accountant will play a key role in maintaining financial accuracy, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, and assisting with internal financial controls through overseeing AP and AR processes.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Proven experience in accounting roles with a focus on financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, and strategic advisory.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, accounting software (preferably Xero), and operational systems (e.g., Guardhouse, Tracktik). Experience with ERP systems and automation tools is an advantage.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to present complex financial data in a clear, concise manner to support decision-making and business strategy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience interacting with senior management, clients, suppliers, consultants, and auditors.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, prioritise tasks, and meet tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or a related field are required. CPA or CA qualification (or working towards) is highly desirable.

Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare, review, and present financial statements and reports for senior management, external auditors, and regulatory bodies. Conduct financial analysis to support business decisions and strategic initiatives, identifying opportunities for cost reduction and process improvements.
- Compliance & Audit Support: Ensure that all financial processes comply with relevant accounting standards (e.g., GAAP/IFRS), statutory requirements, and internal policies. Prepare documentation for external audits and liaise with auditors to address queries and ensure a smooth audit process.
- Internal Controls & Financial Governance: Develop and implement internal control processes to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial reporting. Conduct periodic internal audits and reviews to enhance operational efficiency, identify risks, and implement corrective actions.
- Strategic Advisory & Risk Management: Provide financial insights and strategic advice to senior management, focusing on profitability, financial risks, and opportunities. Collaborate with leadership to assess and recommend financial strategies to support business growth and sustainability.
- Systems Management & Automation: Lead improvements in accounting systems and processes, ensuring efficient data capture and financial reporting. Assist in selecting and implementing accounting software or system upgrades for operational effectiveness and compliance.
