Job Description

ASSISTANT ACCOUNTING MANAGER

The Finance Department of Fairmont Chateau Whistler is looking for a dynamic, organized and collaborative team player who is passionate about coaching and developing the general ledger accounting team.
Salary Range: $71,000 - $75,000, dependent on experience

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in Business, Finance/Accounting, or a relevant field of work, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
  • 2+ years progressive work-related experience in accounting, and previous hotel experience at a supervisory/managerial level an asset
  • Demonstrated experience with accounting systems and Opera PMS an asset
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Windows and Office required

Responsibilities:

  • Proficiency in full cycle general accounting process workflow including month end close and financial reporting, balance sheet reconciliation, Accounts Payable, General Cashiering, Banking/Treasury
  • Supervise the daily general accounting operation
  • Provide administrative support to Management with reference to policy enforcement, business advice and operational business support
  • Responsible for the company’s general ledger transactions and bookkeeping
  • Preparation of monthly journal
  • Assist the finance leadership to prepare variance analysis, monthly profit and loss statement preparation and report on the business to senior finance leadership
  • Verify the accuracy of all Income Audit transactions, banking and ensure daily revenue and rebate summary is reconciled
  • Assist in the integration of hotel and accounting technology systems
  • Complete and verify account analysis for all Food and Beverage inventories and expense valuation
  • Assist in safe keeping of all lease and contracts and any other legal records and documents, which may affect the financial status of the hotel
