What we’re looking for
We’re seeking enthusiastic students to join our Year in Industry program, specifically designed for undergraduates to immerse themselves into the STEM subjects they are most passionate about.
The Year in Industry students will fill an important role in our Research & Development and Sustaining teams.
This role is for an Application Development Scientist to join our R&D team in Malvern, UK.
In this role you will work as part of a larger team to contribute to the delivery of our new and existing scientific and industrial instrumentation solutions.
If your application is successful, you will be welcomed into the team and experience a comprehensive induction program to help you get settled.
We continue to support and develop our students by harnessing their skills, knowledge, and performance with in-house, on-the-job, and external training. Our Year in Industry students are empowered and encouraged to take on new challenges and experience a full variety of projects that form part of the everyday at Malvern Panalytical.
Part of your placement aims to enhance the usability and sustainability of one of our instruments by developing an innovative feature that automates and optimizes processes, reducing waste and ensuring efficient operation.

  • Curiosity and desire to learn – the projects are interdisciplinary.
  • A scientific approach to problem solving.
  • Strong collaboration, communication skills and technical report writing.
  • An interest in understanding customer needs and communicating results.
  • Strong organisational skills to manage time effectively.
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply new techniques and methodologies.
  • Experience of scientific programming (Python/Matlab or similar).
  • Experience with data analysis and statistics trends.
  • Experience with laboratory environment and being able to carry out experiments independently would be beneficial.

Entry Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a STEM degree that offers an Industrial Placement Year.
  • Right to work and live in the UK for the duration of the placement.
