Description:
QUALIFICATIONS
- Applicants must possess and provide proof of a high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate.
- Worked successfully for a period of at least 2 years in clerical/secretarial field (preferably in a school setting)
- Demonstrate ability to work well with the community at large, including parents and students.
- Possess a demonstrated knowledge and understanding of attendance laws/regulations and referral sources.
- Good writing skills (including spelling, proofreading and grammar)
- Mathematics skills appropriate to the level of the position
- Word processing skills using Microsoft Office
Responsibilities:
- Gathers and reviews attendance data that is submitted by classroom teachers and/or building substitutes to identify students who are excessively truant.
- Assess students with attendance problems, makes calls to assess any circumstances that the family may be enduring.
- Collaborates with school staff to develop interventions for students who are truant and when called upon, assist in the development of individualized service plans to improve attendance.
- Serves as a liaison between assigned school and such agencies as social services, court services, and the police department regarding student truancy.
- Prepares information for formal hearings/court cases and represents the school division at court inter-agency staffing and in the courtroom.
- Acts as a resource to administrators, guidance counselors, teachers, and health services personnel regarding attendance programs, interpretation of attendance policies/laws, and record keeping requirements.
- Maintains necessary records ensuring confidentiality of students and their families and prepares related reports.
- Collects and enters attendance electronically and/or manually from substitutes/bldg. substitutes; logs tardy students and arrival time; identifies and corrects inconsistencies; assure teachers comply with attendance code policy and procedure; file attendance sheets daily; run electronic reports daily, weekly, and monthly.
- Collects, reviews, and enters absences excuses that have been submitted by parents in both written and verbal form (voicemails).
- Collects and enters data from Early Dismissal Sign-Out Book daily.
- Collects and reviews monthly suspension reports.
- Provides requested reports/data to District Compliance Officer.
- Represent the district during internal and external audits.
- Submits homework request to teachers for students that will be absent for long periods of time (scheduled prior to being out)
- Assists Main Office when necessary; answers and routes phone calls, record messages, operate standard office equipment, etc.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Office Manager, Principal or designee.
