About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Balfour Beatty Regional Civils business at a time of growth. We are a leading contractor in the delivery of vital infrastructure projects across the country, across the transport, flood & coastal, resilience & adaptation, and defence sectors - supporting our customers to protect and enhance their assets and our local communities.
As an Assistant Business Development Manager, you will cover multiple projects across the South/South West region. This role will be office, site and home based with no 2 days the same, an exciting opportunity to join Balfour Beatty and grow. Reporting to the Account Director, you will:
- Research / monitor market conditions in support of Area / Sector plans
- Support Business Development and Relationship Management across a portfolio of customers
- Support development and maintenance of effective customer relationships
- Identify and support the conversion of sustainable pipelines of work
- Engage with internal and external partners in support of BD activity
- Support development of key pursuits and value propositions to secure orders
What you’ll be doing
Working with the Account Director, the wider work winning team and Area leadership team, the Assistant Business Development Manager will:
- Understand the Win Business Strategy and support customer relationship development and opportunity identification in line with the strategy
- Support business development, adopting ‘high value selling’ principles, securing engagement from key personnel within the business to help build multi-level customer relationships
- Help maintain and grow relationships with existing customers
- Maintain up to date account plans including the establishment of regular pulse calls and account reviews
- Research market conditions and help identify & develop relationships with new customers
- Support opportunity capture planning and conversion
- Support customer experience during operational delivery – including carrying out project level customer experience surveys
- Maintain accurate CRM records of customers and pipeline
Who we’re looking for
We are looking for someone with:
- Project management skills
- Ability to communicate and influence effectively to develop and maintain internal and external relationships
- Effective communicator both verbally and in writing
- The successful candidate will be a team player with a can-do attitude and a focus on results. They will have developing leadership skills and will seek to identify and drive good practice.
- Some experience of account management and/or high value selling approach is desirable. Experience /understanding of the construction sector and public sector procurement is helpful but not essential.
