Would you like the opportunity to work with medical equipment to help maintain its performance in line with the manufacturer’s specifications? Do you want to work within an interactive team to provide technical support to a wide rage of clinical areas?
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Clinical Engineering Technologist to work at Portsmouth Hospitals, one of the largest acute hospitals in the country. The hospital’s vision is simple – to be recognised as a world-class hospital, leading the field through innovative healthcare solutions, focused on the best outcome for our patients, delivered in a safe, caring and inspiring environment.
The Team provides a wide range of professional technological support to Theatres, Radiotherapy and Imaging, Critical Care, Renal Dialysis, General Wards and Community Healthcare establishments.
This vacancy is for a technologist to work in the Critical Care Section which supports Adult, Paediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care Units, Cardiology, Emergency, Oncology, Respiratory and Maternity Departments.
This is an opportunity to begin working on a wide range of complex and patient critical medical equipment, ensuring it performs to manufacturer’s specifications and making it available for patient use.
The post involves working with other healthcare professionals, often in clinical areas, therefore excellent communication skills will be required to interact with medical, nursing and technical staff.
You will support the Trusts medical equipment throughout its life cycle and will be involved in equipment evaluations, selection and procurement, acceptance processes, scheduled preventative maintenance, servicing, calibration, repairs and the decommissioning and safe disposal of the equipment.
You will be expected to keep detailed and accurate records of your work in a methodical method.
You will be required to show initiative and possess judgement and fault finding skills in order to facilitate effective repairs to medical devices. Being self-motivated you will also show an ability to plan your own workload, liaise with manufacturers, monitor stock levels and order spare parts.
Previous experience as a clinical technologist in a hospital environment is desirable, however, practical hands on experience with electronic and electromechanical equipment in an industrial, commercial or military role will be considered for those candidates showing transferable skills.
