WHAT QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

EDUCATION
- CPA designation or currently in the CPA program and currently pursuing the designation
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Minimum 3-5 years of relevant work experience in an accounting department
- Significant hands-on experience using accounting software such as SAP, Oracle, or Great Plains
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong functionality in other Microsoft Office Suit products
- Experience in the not-for-profit sector is an asset
- Experience with budgeting software is an asset
- Experience with 3rd party software such as membership software is an asset
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Applicants must already have a valid permit to work in Canada.
- A Police Record check, not more than 6 months old is required. Police Records checks are reviewed on an individual basis and the offense(s) - if any - is considered in the decision-making process in relation to the requirement of working with children, therefore not eliminating all candidates with a record from being offered a position.
- Annually, staff must complete the mandatory training for the protection of Children & Youth and submit the certificate of completion.

Responsibilities:
- Providing backup support to most positions in the accounting department.
- Overseeing accounts payable.
- Assisting with treasury activities.
- Preparing detailed journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Assisting with budget and forecast preparation.
- Performing month-end closing procedures.
- Responding to audit requests during all audits.
- Preparing financial statements and other reports as required.
