Description:

The Assistant Controller is the financial business partner of the Regional Controller and the Regional Leadership team, performing complex business analysis, evaluating detailed pro-forma’s, assisting with bid creation/submittals, analyzing contracts and productivity optimization, managing acquisition/divesture due diligence and the integration or disposal process, and preparing annual budgets and monthly forecasts.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Accounting/Business degree from a four-year college or university (minimum)
  • 2 -3 years of experience in the accounting/finance field in a medium to large business environment
  • Possess excellent leadership, presentation, analytical, and communication skills
  • Is able to focus on details and solve problem
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Can work well with operational leadership teams to identify and implement improvements
  • Strong computer skills and experience with the Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Word, and Teams
  • Microsoft Excel skills must be above average to highly skilled
  • Strong work ethic, demonstrating integrity, trust, and maintain confidentiality
  • Flexible to accept and adapt to change as well as the commitment to seek continuous improvement
  • Experience in the waste industry is preferred but not required

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the month end close process
  • Review, analyze, and approve financial statements
  • Provide monthly variance analysis of results to forecast and budget
  • Report, interpret, and utilize KPI’s to drive operational improvements
  • Work with the General Managers to complete capital requests, annual financial budgets, and monthly financial forecasts for their business units
  • Participate in the review, analysis, and due diligence of acquisitions, divestitures, or swaps
  • Partner with the General Managers to prepare, review, and present financial models for the tender/bidding process
