Assistant Controller II
Job Description
As Assistant Controller, your key objective is to continuously support the company in achieving its strategy of sustainable profitable growth. The main role of service control is to support sales and execution during all process steps, to control compliance with external laws and internal rules and to manage and control results, risks and opportunities, from cradle to grave as an integrated part of the service sales & execution teams.
You are part of the APAC controlling team, reporting to the APAC Controller. You are responsible for service control of various projects within the APAC region, with the major focus on Australia, New Zealand, but expanded to outside areas within APAC as required and as such you will be highly involved in the service teams.
Next to that you can attribute to overarching continuous improvement projects.
Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Pro-active business partner for relevant managers and colleagues, both in the sales phase as well as in service execution
  • Participate in a pro-active manner in relevant meetings
  • Back up of business controllers in APAC and ability to grow in business controller role within a few years

Sales Control

  • Perform risk assessment on service in quotation and determine measures to mitigate identified risks, specifically payment risk, foreign exchange risk, tax risk and political risk
  • Identify and quantify matters impacting service price
  • Advise on various topics, e.g. Sales Cost development, Total-Cost-of-Ownership, Financing models, Foreign currency, Incoterms, Bank guarantees, Project insurance, Letter of Credits, etc.
  • Active engagement with Sales team and customer in Sales phase

Service Control

  • Ensure service project set-up & way of working in accordance with standards of VI
  • Reliable financial forecasting; adequate justification of latest estimates.
  • Challenge latest estimate figures on plausibility and consistency within the service managers
  • Advise on various topics, e.g. Service cost development, increasing revenue for variations (claims), make risk & opportunities more transparent so they receive the right attention, support procurement team with for instance foreign currency.
  • Act as a sounding board to the Service managers
  • Periodic internal project related financial & progress reporting to relevant stakeholders

Qualifications & Skills

  • For this role, we ask that you bring to the table:
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in an international operating company, preferably in a business-to-business and a service / project oriented environment
  • Solid understanding of sales, project & service control
  • Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance or demonstrated work experience at this level
  • Advanced Excel and modeling capabilities
  • JD Edwards experience preferred
  • Ambitious, confident, self-motivated and energetic individual with the highest degree of ethics
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills; able to prioritize appropriately and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to work effectively with personnel throughout the company as well as external vendors and professional services firms
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in English, other languages are a plus.
