Description:
THE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL NEED:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA (Certified Public Accountant) preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in financial accounting and reporting, preferably in a manufacturing industry. Cost-accounting experience is a plus.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and experience in preparing financial statements.
- Proficiency in tax compliance and familiarity with relevant tax laws and regulations
- Strong attention to detail, excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights.
Responsibilities:
As a member of the Global Finance & Accounting (GFA) Team, the Assistant Controller will join a growing and dynamic team of professionals who are passionate about engaging and collaborating with cross functional teammates throughout the Meissner Organization. Our global team is comprised of various functions including Financial Planning & Analysis, Accounting, Legal and Compliance, and Learning and Organizational Development. Therefore, the Assistant Financial Controller will be uniquely positioned and supported to build a growing department in Meissner that fulfills its mission of providing solutions and insights for key decision making, serving as extraordinary stewards of organizational resources, and being trusted partners to cross-functional partners. The ideal candidate for this role is a people-oriented and results-driven leader with extensive experience in financial reporting, tax, and manufacturing experience.
- Lead and contribute to the timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Supervise and mentor a team of accounting professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Evaluate and strengthen internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial data. Implement best practices to mitigate risks and enhance operational efficiency.
- Manage interstate tax compliance efforts, ensuring adherence to state and local tax regulations across multiple jurisdictions within the United States.
- Collaborate with IT and FP&A to develop standardized reporting through existing platforms for key initiatives including (but not limited to) global consolidation of Meissner entities, department budgets, financial projections, interstate tax, pricing, and sustainability
