We take great pride in delivering high-quality work and fostering long-term client relationships, and we are looking for an experienced Assistant Controller to join our team.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Assistant Controller will play a critical role in supporting the financial operations of the company. This position requires strong experience in financial management, job costing, financial controls, process improvement, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post secondary education or equivalent experience in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in job costing and project accounting.
  • Experience with accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, or similar).
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Manage job costing processes, including tracking project costs and profitability.
  • Work closely with project managers to analyze job performance and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Prepare detailed job cost reports and variance analyses.
  • Establish and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Monitor compliance with financial policies and procedures.
  • Identify areas for improvement and implement changes to enhance financial controls.
  • Evaluate existing financial processes and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.
  • Manage and support Payroll and related activities.
  • Month end financial reporting.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives to streamline accounting and financial operations.
  • Implement best practices and new technologies to enhance financial workflows.
  • Communicate financial results and analysis to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial data and support business decisions.
  • Provide training and guidance to finance team members on financial processes and systems.
