Description:
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Possession of a Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) designation and in good standing with the relevant regulatory body.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably within a consulting or professional services company.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and IFRS.
- Experience with financial reporting, general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and month-end close processes.
- Advanced Excel skills, including financial modelling and analysis.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong critical thinking and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Effective oral and written communication skills to partner with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and work effectively in a team setting.
Responsibilities:
You will carry out your duties in consultation with the Director of Accounting on all matters.
Your primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assist with preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Help manage the month and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting.
- Support the Director of Accounting with the maintenance of general ledger accounts and reconciliations.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports for management, operational teams, and financial stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with provincial and federal regulations in financial reporting and practices.
- Coordinate and assist with annual review and the preparation of financial working papers and schedules.
- Maintain internal controls and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Oversee the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions to ensure accurate recording and payment processing.
- Assist in the development and management of the company’s annual budget and forecasts.
- Provide support for tax filings, including corporate income tax, sales tax, and other required filings.
- Liaise with external auditors and tax professionals to ensure proper compliance and timely filing of taxes.
- Assist with financial analysis and help identify areas of cost control, profit optimization, and process improvement.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff and assist with training.
Collaborate with project managers and operational teams to ensure accurate project accounting and cost tracking.
