DAVIDSON CHARTER ACADEMY IN LEXINGTON, NC IS SEEKING CANDIDATES FOR OUR ASSISTANT DEAN POSITION.
Overview: The Assistant Dean plays a vital role in supporting the Dean in fostering a positive educational environment for students, staff, and families. This position involves managing day-to-day operations, ensuring high-quality instruction, and promoting a collaborative school culture. The Assistant Dean will be instrumental in coordinating various programs and initiatives that enhance the educational experience at our K-8 charter school.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in Education or a related field
- Valid teaching certification
- Experience in K-8 education, with a focus on classroom management and instructional practices.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse school community.

Responsibilities:
- Support the Dean:
- Assist the Dean in implementing school policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with the Dean to develop and execute the school’s strategic plan.
- Oversee the new hire orientation process for all instructional staff
- Other tasks as assigned by the administration
- Classroom Coverage and Substitutes:
- Manage and coordinate classroom coverage to ensure uninterrupted learning.
- Substitute teacher management
- Minor Disciplinary Issues:
- Address minor disciplinary matters in accordance with school policies.
- Work with teachers and parents to resolve behavioral issues and promote positive behavior interventions.
- Classroom Observations:
- Assist the Dean with formal observations in compliance with school policy
- Conduct regular classroom walkthroughs/observations to provide constructive feedback to teachers.
- Support teachers in enhancing instructional practices and classroom management.
- Lesson Plan Reviews:
- Review and provide feedback on lesson plans to ensure alignment with curriculum standards.
- Collaborate with teachers to develop engaging and effective lesson plans.
- Weekly Professional Learning Communities (PLCs):
- In collaboration with the Dean, facilitate weekly PLC meetings to promote continuous improvement among staff.
- Assist in developing agendas and ensuring follow-up on action items.
- Testing Coordination:
- Act as our LEA’s district level testing coordinator and ensure compliance with all state policies
- Coordinate and oversee all state and district assessments.
- Ensure all testing protocols are followed and communicate results to stakeholders.
- School Improvement Team (SIT) Facilitator
- Oversee DCA’s School Improvement Team
- Liaison to the Parent/Teacher Organization (PTO) and the Booster Club:
- Act as a point of contact for the PTO/Booster Club and facilitate communication between parents and school staff.
- Help facilitate and support all initiatives and encourage parental involvement in school activities.
