Description:
This is a part time role working with Dietitians based at Chesterfield Royal Hospital to support adults in requiring nutrition and dietetic input who have had a stroke.
Under the supervision of a dietitian the successful candidate will assess and advise adults who have had a stroke and will be supported to meet the required competencies within the first 6 months of being in post.
If you are currently working in an assistant role within an NHS hospital environment, have a Foundation degree (or the equivalent), and ideally some experience of working with adults who have difficulties eating and drinking after having a stroke this might be the role for you.
The successful candidate will become part of our larger friendly, dynamic and forward-thinking team of 27 staff made up of dietitians, a nutrition support nurse, assistant dietitian practitioners, and admin staff.

Clinical.
1.
To provide a client centred nutrition & dietetic service for adults who have had a stroke.
2.
To obtain and review information which may be of a sensitive nature from a variety of sources relating to the nutritional health of adults which will include:
- Anthropometric data.
- Biochemical results.
- Nutritional intake.

To advise, monitor and support adults according to agreed protocols, reporting progress to supervising dietitians.

To communicate complex nutritional information to adults, carers and staff where there may be barriers to communication and understanding.
To organise dietetic assessment, treatment and support for adults who have had a stroke including delivery of samples of oral nutritional supplements, arranging appointments or visits and liaison with other agencies
