Description:

NHS England is investing in a trailblazing Federated Data Platform (FDP). This ambitious digital programme aims to harness the power of data, so that we can improve the patient experience. We will optimise resource allocation, reduce burden, and enable real-time decision-making, so that we can invest more time in delivering outstanding care.
The Federated Data Platform (FDP) programme team sits within Data Services. This enabling function will deliver the FDP programme which will support the connection of data across the NHS. The FDP solution will connect existing IT systems, making it easier for staff to access the information they need in one safe and secure environment, this will enable them to improve coordination, plan and deliver high quality care.
To ensure Data Services directly supports NHS priorities, the team will channel efforts through the lens of Use Cases, which are business-owned and tied to patient and staff benefits.
This role leads on solution design and assurance. It will involve designing solutions that are in line with architecture, security, and data principles and standards within the organisation and, where applicable, validating supplier proposed solutions. It also involves documenting and presenting these at Technical Design Authority. It ensures that all designed technical solutions are in line with technology strategy and are of robust quality. It is critical that solutions are scalable, reliable and can be maintained and evolved within live service. The role is responsible for the Operational delivery of the FDP Solutions Exchange, a new service providing FDP users with a pipeline of new Products that meet a broad range of use cases to support productivity in the NHS. In addition the role also manages Privacy Enhancing Technology (PET) software delivered via a 3rd party supplier. This role will grow these capabilities to support wider use cases and extend their utilisation across the Directorate and outside of FDP. The role will optimise how teams operate as part of the development lifecycle with an emphasis on ensuring our platforms are stable, reliable and resilient and work is integrated throughout. This will include the ways of working that support efficient joined up teams within and across programmes. The role will extend to ensuring good practice across Trusts and ICS/ICBs working with Data Services.
The NHS England board have set out the top-level purpose for the new organisation to lead the NHS in England to deliver high-quality services for all, which will inform the detailed design work and we will achieve this purpose by:
Enabling local systems and providers to improve the health of their people and patients and reduce health inequalities.
Making the NHS a great place to work, where our people can make a difference and achieve their potential.
Working collaboratively to ensure our healthcare workforce has the right knowledge, skills, values and behaviours to deliver accessible, compassionate care
Optimising the use of digital technology, research, and innovation
Delivering value for money.
