Description:

High Point University is seeking a highly motivated person to be the Assistant Director of Creative Services. This position will serve as the primary contact for assigned sports, as well as provide assistance with digital and social media strategy for High Point’s 16 teams. This position will report to the Senior Director of Communications/Creative Services.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required; preferred in Communications, Journalism, Digital Media, or Graphic Design. Experience in athletics/sport preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Ability

  • Strong writing, editing, and design (print and web skills)
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with members of the media, coaches, student-athletes, athletics staff, parents, fans, and alumni
  • Ability to work independently as well as lead projects
  • Ability to work flexible schedule including late night and weekend hours

Essential Functions

  • Helps execute the department’s social media strategy across all platforms to increase viewers and creative content
  • Assists with the design and execution of the department’s graphics and branding templates
  • Builds relationships with and pitches stories to local, regional, and national media contacts
  • Attends all home athletic events for assigned sport(s) and away as necessary
  • Designs and edits content for assigned sports including photos, videos, and graphic design
  • Assists in maintaining official HPU Athletics accounts on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
  • Maintains positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating effectively with students, students’ parents, faculty, co-workers, and managers
  • Other duties as assigned
