YOUR ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experienced APHRA Registered Nurse with senior peri-operative management experience at a comparable acute care hospital.
  • Demonstrates skills in workforce planning, rostering and working within budgeted work hours.
  • Demonstrates positive workforce culture and engagement with key stakeholders.
  • Drives quality improvement and organisational change.
  • Demonstrates risk minimisation through workplace health and safety, injury management, infection control and clinical incident management.
  • Demonstrates innovative and collaborative leadership with effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Models the Ramsay Way values and leads by example.

Desirable:

  • Relevant post-graduate tertiary health care qualifications in Business or Management.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Current valid APHRA registration as a Registered Nurse
  • Must provide a National Police check conducted within the previous 12 months.
  • According to the role, Ramsay may require a Working-With-Children check and proof of immunisation against infectious diseases.

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Assistant Director of Clinical Services (Surgical Services) supports our hospital in daily operational management, business development and workforce management to deliver high quality, safe care for our consumers, staff and partners.

THE ADCS FOR SURGICAL SERVICES IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MANAGEMENT OF THE FOLLOWING CLINICAL AREAS:

  • 9 Operating Theatres (including 3 newly commissioned),
  • 2 Cardiac Catheter Laboratories,
  • 1 Endoscopy Suite,
  • Day of Surgery Admissions (DOSA)
  • 2 Surgical Wards
    This position reports directly to the Director of Clinical Services (DCS) with broader direction from the Hospital Executive Leadership Team.
    The Surgical Services ADCS is supported by a Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) in each clinical area, with 6 NUMs and 1 surgical services education coordinator reporting to the position.

KEY ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Be a part of the senior clinical leadership team and participate within the hospital key governance committees.
  • Collaborate with Visiting Medical Officers providing services in the Peri-Operative/Surgical specialities including business development and relationship management.
  • Support the development and delivery of our facility’s strategic goals.
  • Daily patient flow management to optimise patient safety and our service demand.
  • Leading continuous improvement projects, including change management.
  • Manage resources aligned to budget and clinical need.
  • Design and implement strategies to improve patient and staff experience.
  • Work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders through fostering and maintaining relationships.
  • Provide mentorship, empower staff, promote professional development and effective team building.
  • Actively manage service provider contracts including review and renewal.
  • Conduct serious incident investigations and implement improvement initiatives depending on outcomes.
