Job Description
Fairmont Chateau Whistler’s Assistant Director of Finance is a pivotal role within our accounting department, requiring an individual with a hands-on approach to accounting and leadership, alongside strong technical accounting and analytical skills.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor or Master Degree in Business, Finance, or a relevant field of work, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience. MBA, CMA or CPA preferred
  • Previous experience as a Hotel Controller, Director of Accounting or Director of Finance, preferred
  • 5+ years management/progressive work-related experience in multiple areas of accounting and/or management and reporting, financial and/or business analysis or related area
  • 2 to 4 years managing large teams and/or significant complex projects
  • Experience with accounting systems, ideally Birchstreet, and OneStream reporting preferred
  • Familiarity with hotel operating systems and software, such as POS software (i.e. Silverware) and Opera PMS preferred

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and provide accurate and complete financial and management reports on a timely basis, in accordance with the company reporting requirements
  • Monitor employee performance through positive feedback, performance management, annual performance reviews and recognition practice
  • Partner with the company Centralized Accounting System Delivery team to ensure accurate and timely process of Accounts Payable and Income Audit workflow, and balance sheets accounts reconciliation
  • Verify the accuracy of all Income Audit transactions, banking and ensure daily revenue and rebate summary is reconciled
  • Complete and verify account analysis for all Food and Beverage inventories and expense valuation
  • Develop key relationships with Department Heads and Senior Managers
  • Proven impact on the financial planning, cost management and operations
  • Monitor and supervise the accounting department’s daily routine to ensure a smooth workflow and effective work practice
  • Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and procedures spearheading self-audit protocols and manage internal and external audits by implementing recommended compliance report action plan with operations leadership
