JOB DESCRIPTION
Post: Assistant Director of Nursing - Residential Services
Location: Saint John of God Community Services clg., Liffey Services
Responsible to: Regional Director
Reporting to: Director of Nursing/Programme Manager

QUALIFICATIONS/ EXPERIENCE:
- Are registered on Intellectual Disabilities division of the Register of Nurses and Midwives, maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Minimum 7 years post registration nursing experience
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a management position within the Intellectual Disabilities sector.
- Post-registration qualification in healthcare management (QQ1 Level 8 or higher) or working towards and/or equivalent may be an advantage, or a contractual undertaking to acquire within 3 years from the date of appointment.
PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE:
- Evidence of continuous professional development required.
- In depth knowledge of all relevant and appropriate legislation, statutory regulations and publications in the area of intellectual disability.
- Knowledge and experience of risk management and health and safety issues is essential.
- Good ICT knowledge and skills.
- Experience/knowledge of working in a change management environment preferable.
- Proven experience of supporting residents and families transitioning from a congregated setting to community setting desirable.
- Clear understanding of, and commitment to, contemporary service delivery approaches.
- To accept the role of PPIM as and when required.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
The Assistant Director of Nursing will be responsible for supporting the development and delivery of an effective, efficient and person -centered health and social care service for people with an intellectual disability in Liffey region. This will include age related services and will include any new services the region deems to provide in its future developments.
To advise and support in respect of residents transferring to and from residential services and acute settings.
The post holder will take a lead governance role in residential services in several areas, located on campus and in the community. The post holder will take a lead role in infection prevention with particular emphasis on Covid 19 and healthcare infections. The post holder will also provide clinical nursing support and supervision across the region where required.
