Description:
JOB OVERVIEW:
The Assistant Director of Pharmacy Operations must be a Registered Pharmacist with a current license in the state of New Jersey.
This position manages the daily operation of the Pharmacy Department Functions and Staff to assure patients receive their medication therapies in a safe and timely manner in compliance to institutional and regulatory policies and procedures.
The Assistant Director continuously works to develop and maintain skills necessary to ensure the department regulatory compliance with all state and federal statues.
The Assistant Director supports the Director of Pharmacy in the acquisition and surveillance of controlled dangerous substances for the institution in accordance with regulatory requirements, hospital and system committees, personnel recruitment, performance appraisals, and staffing coverage as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy/ PharmD from an accredited School of Pharmacy
- Experience compounding of sterile and non-sterile productions utilizing USP 795, 797, 800
Preferred:
- 1-3 years of Management experience
Responsibilities:
- Continuously works to develop and maintain skills necessary to ensure the department regulatory compliance with all state and federal sterile and non-sterile compounding statues. (USP 795, 797, 800, NJ SBOP, and Med Management Standards)
- Assumes the requirements of the Administration Role for automated dispensing cabinets
- Actively participates in the acquisition and surveillance of controlled drugs substances for the institution in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Supervises, directs and coordinates the daily operations of the pharmacy department to assure patients receive their medication therapies in a safe and timely manner in compliance to institutional and regulatory policies and procedures
- Follows all procedures involved in the appropriate documentation of all medication errors and adverse drug reactions
- Proficient in the requirements of pharmaceutical waste management and disposal and ensures that the institutional policies are followed
- Acts as liaison for the Pharmacy Department with other departments and actively participates in hospital committees, task forces and projects providing leadership as assigned
- Assists in the recruitment, selection and retention of pharmacy personnel
- Provides orientation and training for staff
- Complete performance appraisal of staff relative to established standards and attainment of expectations
- Performs all other duties as requested by Director / VP of Patient Care Services
