ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF TALENT & CULTURE (MATERNITY LEAVE COVERAGE)

We’re seeking a passionate Talent & Culture leader to join our team for maternity leave coverage. If you’re ready to inspire positive change, foster an inclusive work environment, and enhance the colleague experience, we want to hear from you!
This leadership position supports the management of the Talent & Culture Department, ensuring alignment with the Fairmont philosophy of fostering an environment where each colleague is recognized, valued, and supported for their contributions.
In this role, you will lead the implementation of all aspects of the Talent Journey, including Employer Branding, Talent Selection, Onboarding, Performance Management, Colleague Engagement, Learning & Development, Diversity & Inclusion, Compensation & Benefits, and Health & Wellness. Your efforts will directly contribute to the success of the hotel by enhancing the colleague experience and supporting the development of an engaged and motivated team.

VISA REQUIREMENTS:

Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in leading the day-to-day operation of the Talent & Culture Department, focusing on maximizing the capabilities of the team, ensuring all Talent & Culture core standards are being adhered to, and ensuring smooth and effective processes
  • Ensure Talent & Culture colleagues are trained, informed and supported in carrying out their daily responsibilities
  • Serve as a role model by consistently demonstrating professional leadership, aligning actions with Fairmont’s values, culture, and pillars; fostering a positive and supportive environment
  • Promote positive colleague relations by creating an environment of open communication, trust, and mutual respect
  • Act as an internal consultant to provide expert coaching and guidance on employment legislation, compliance with labor laws, employment standards, human rights, Collective Bargaining Agreements, Talent & Culture policies and procedures, programs, and colleague relations
  • Ensure compliance with all corporate, regional and hotel policies, procedures and administration; and governmental regulations in all aspects of the human resources function
  • Support and drive initiatives related to colleague relations, colleague wellness, talent management, performance feedback, and career development
  • Collaborate with Departmental Leaders on job related issues, personal and career development and performance management
  • Manage colleague engagement events/ functions and hotel-wide activities such as recognition program, etc. ensuring a positive and inclusive environment
  • Support employee exit processes, including conducting exit interviews and ensuring accurate, timely final pay in accordance with legal requirements
  • Assist with employee relations issues, including coaching, counseling, and conducting disciplinary meetings when necessary
  • Foster and promote positive employee engagement and relations through an environment of trust, mutual respect, inclusion, empowerment, integrity and open communication
  • Perform duties of the Director, Talent & Culture in their absence
  • Assist with all general office administration and reception and other duties as required
  • Other duties as assigned
