Description:

JOB SUMMARY:

The Assistant Director of the new Center for Heterodox Economics (CHE) at the University of Tulsa works independently with minimal supervision to support the vision of CHE. The Center aims to further the understanding of capitalism through a multidisciplinary and engaged scholarship for the purpose of social inclusion and citizen’s empowerment. The Center is organized as the hub of a network of similarly minded scholars to build ties with other international academic centers and especially with the people of Tulsa.

Job Duties:

  • Participate in crafting the vision and activities of the CHE, grant-writing and management
  • Budget administration
  • Fundraising
  • Welcome visitors and other personnel
  • Manage CHE travel and logistic needs
  • Relationship building with faculty and University of Tulsa administration
  • Assist with visa matters for international visitors
  • Organization and logistics for annual conference, seminar series of summer school, and other institutional meetings
  • Developing relationships with academic and non-academic partners
  • Event advertising (including social media interfacing)
  • Edit the CHE newsletter
  • Support director’s initiatives including official emails
  • Ensure inclusion of CHE affiliated students, especially during their stay (includes coordinating with the college of Arts and Sciences and the Marketing and Communication Office
  • Successful candidates will be working with senior scholars in Tulsa, around the country and around the world.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree required
  • Eagerness to help build an institution that is cutting-edge and transformative.
  • Team-player, entrepreneurial, enthusiastic, independent, responsible, meticulous and interested in the subject matter and agenda of the Center.
  • Effective communication skills
  • Adept computer skills
  • Experience with interfacing with social media

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree preferably in Economics with knowledge of the Heterodox Tradition
  • Administrative experience is highly preferred.
