Description:
QUALIFICATIONS
The person selected for this position must be at least 18 years of age and meet the requirements of the licensing agency. This person must be able to relate well to the children and be willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the school’s Board of Directors, Policy & Procedure Manual, Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), and Ministry of Education.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Participate actively in programs while promoting and enhancing early learning opportunities.
- Read, understand and abide by all policies and procedures of Happy Face Nursery School and regulations of the Ministry of Education, and the local Health Unit
- Implement the Happy Face Program Statement
- Participate in daily programming (this includes, but is not limited to, planning and preparing the learning environment, setting up invitations, and preparing needed supplies and materials).
- Participate in professional learning opportunities
- Respect parents, colleagues, management staff, and children while performing duties.
- Respect confidentiality with parents, children, colleagues, and board directors.
- Assist with the planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of the program in accordance with the policies and philosophy of the school as expressed by the Executive Director
- Engage in reflective practice and work with colleagues to produce pedagogical documentation
- Demonstrate an understanding of and abide by the regulations set out in the CCEYA
- Help with cleaning and general housekeeping and ensure an ordered arrangement of supplies. Ensure toys are being put away and spills and debris are removed from floors.
- Ensure safe storage of all harmful materials–i.e., cleaning products, sterilizing products.
- Identify safety hazards and ensure they are removed immediately; inspect items for good repair.
- Participate in safe practices such as fire drills and follow all safety procedures in case of injury or emergency.

Pay: From $19.95 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
