Detailed Overview:
On behalf of the FHA, VIHA, VCH, PHSA, PHC, BCCSS, NHA, IHA, and BCEHS responsible for interviewing employees utilizing contact centre software and multichannel applications to obtain required details regarding incidents/exposures/near misses and enters information into into the respective Health Authorities’ Workplace Health Indicator Tracking and Evaluation (WHITE) database system ensuring the information is complete. Initiates incident investigation as per WorkSafeBC (WSBC) regulations and processes incident report for preparation of the Employer’s Report of Injury or Occupational Disease for submission to WSBC.
Acts as a resource and contact for internal and external inquiries to the Workplace Health Departments within each Health Authority; provides contact information regarding early intervention and refers as appropriate in accordance with established procedures. Compiles and maintains statistical data; produces and distributes summaries, reports and tracking sheets.

Responsibilities:

  • Interviews employees to obtain details of the incident/exposure/near miss and enters information into the respective Health Authorities’ WHITE database system.
  • Gathers information from the employee and/or Manager and verifies information such as job description, position status, location and description of incident/exposure/near miss to complete the incident report.
  • Responds to calls from employees regarding incidents/exposures/near misses and contacts employees utilizing contact centre software and multichannel applications, in response to various notification systems and requests by WSBC for outstanding Employer’s Report of Injury or Occupational Disease.
  • Assists in preparation of the Employer’s Report of Injury or Occupational Disease according to WSBC regulations.
  • Notifies Managers, Investigators and local Workplace Health team members within the appropriate Health Authority of reported incidents/exposures/near misses for follow up activities including escalation alerts for safety teams in accordance with established procedures.
  • Ensures information in each Health Authority’s WHITE database is complete including documenting all interactions, call recording identification numbers, and relevant charting. Updates the information as required.
  • Acts as a resource and contact for internal and external inquiries to the Workplace Health Departments within each Health Authority for information and/or assistance; provides contact information regarding early intervention resources such as Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM), Employee & Family Assistance Program (EFAP) and Early Intervention Program (EIP) and refers as appropriate in accordance with established procedures.
  • Refers injured/ill employees to the appropriate Health Authority Disability Management Resources, Safety Resources and/or Occupational Health Nurses in accordance with established procedures.
  • Compiles and maintains statistical data; produces and distributes summaries, reports and tracking sheets using various software applications such as word processing, spreadsheet and database software. Maintains electronic filing systems to fulfill required needs.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

Grade 12, graduation from an approved program in medical transcription and one year’s recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
