THE JOB ITSELF

An exciting opportunity for an Assistant Engineer to join the Flood and Coastal Risk Management team, which forms part of the award-winning Civil Engineering Services Group. You will be part of a forward thinking and experienced team, which manages the delivery of both revenue and capital funded small to medium sized flood schemes.
As an Assistant Engineer, you will assist on the inception and delivery of flood risk projects, this will include undertaking surveys, design and the tender award process. You will also be involved with land drainage enquiries and asset inspections, while supporting on the team’s various term service maintenance contracts.
We seek a motivated individual with good IT skills and a working knowledge of AutoCAD. Other desirable skills are a knowledge of GPS surveying techniques and project management. You should be able to demonstrate analytical judgement to creatively deal with difficult and varied problems plus knowledge of relevant design codes and standards.
You should hold a NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject and have an ability to translate technical knowledge into real outcomes, along with effective communication skills when dealing with the public, a wide range of stakeholders and internal colleagues.
