The preferred candidates would ideally be a tertiary qualified degree level graduate engineer with two or more years industry experience and is actively seeking experience in an operational environment. For the perfect candidate, their qualification and desired experience would be in the water treatment or wastewater treatment industry.

Hours of work - 37.5 - 40 hours per week
Position - Permanent
Location - Both positions are primarily based at The Christchurch Wastewater Treatment Plant, Bromley.
Salary - The salary band for this position goes from $71,529 to $79,477 per annum based on a 40 hour week. Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both, within the immediate team and in the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.

Responsibilities:

We have two newly created roles based in different locations, with one in Christchurch City and the second in Banks Peninsula. Both roles are supporting the respective Water & Wastewater Treatment Plants. The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • To assist and provide engineering support to the operational water or wastewater treatment teams
  • To provide specialist process knowledge, performance reporting and project management support to the internal & external teams operating the Council’s Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants
  • To participate on a standby roster as required, and be able to assist the operational teams with day to day hands-on operational support
