SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Senior School qualification or equivalent
  • Degree or Diploma in Finance
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in accounting with at least 1 year in a similar capacity
  • Experienced in POS and PMS Systems (Opera / PSMS / Info Genesis / Micros)
  • Experienced in Accounting System (SUN System)
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Must have analytical skills
  • Excellent MS Office skills (excel, word)

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and supervise the accounting department’s daily routines to ensure smooth, effective, and efficient daily work practices.
  • Prepare and supervise the account reconciliation’s, account analysis, and closing procedures at month end.
  • Verify the accuracy and timeliness of all night audit/ hotel revenue transactions and monitoring adherence to established procedures. Also the Assistant Finance Manager is responsible for the accuracy of all internal reporting.
  • Supervise the filling and maintenance of all accounting related documents and records in accordance with the document retention policy.
  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of municipality fees and licenses reporting and payment.
  • Verify daily bank balances through review of the bank statements for all bank transactions and prepare the bank reconciliations to be submitted to the Assistant Director of Finance and Director of Finance for approval.
  • Verify the accuracy of the general cashier report and revenue receipts are daily deposited into the bank by the general cashier.
  • Conduct a productive monthly departmental meeting together with Assistant Director of Finance to communicate pertinent departmental, hotel and company information.
  • Verify that journals and journal vouchers are properly recorded and accurate and posted timely.
  • Verify that the general ledger (GL) and sub-ledger (SL) postings are accurate, ensure that GL and SL balances correspond and all contra/ clearance accounts are cleared at month-end.
  • Prepare financial statements, accruals and journal entries, and maintain reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts in established corporate formats and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of all related reports both to management and owning companies and compliance to all policy & procedures.
  • Maintain an updated and accurate Chart of Accounts in the Accounting System.
  • Maintain close communication with the public auditors and communicate instructions for the preparation of internal and external audits, preparing all necessary data and documents, in conjunction with the Assistant Director of Finance and Director of Finance.
  • Work with the Assistant Director of Finance and Director of Finance to plan, recruit, and hire departmental staff. Also, the Assistant Finance Manager must oversee the training, and development of the departmental colleagues.
  • Perform related tasks and duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Finance and Director of Finance such as assisting with forecasting, budgeting, internal control, and completing account analysis.
  • Monthly preparation and filing of the business taxes of the Hotel on a timely manner.
  • Ensure that all tax matters are treated in a proper manner and in compliance with related legislation.
  • Follow-up on any tax changes and other legislations.
  • Attend seminars for tax updates.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the accounting regulations of the region where the hotel is located.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of the contents of all volumes of the Policies & Procedures.
  • Supervise the day-to-day functions of all Accounting Colleagues including assisting them when necessary to stay current.
  • Assist/ perform in Assistant Director of Finance, Financial Accountant, Paymaster and Credit Manager functions as required/ needed.
  • Cover secretarial duties as & when necessary.
  • Take appropriate personnel related action (i.e., hire, commend, discipline, evaluate, etc.,) with accounting colleague as required.
  • To perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to time by Assistant Director of Finance and/or Director of Finance.
