Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Assistant Financial Controller is a key member of the Global Accounting department, working under the controller, based in the Netherlands. This position will provide primary day-to-day support for annual audit process(es) and country-specific, project, benefit audits. This candidate will work closely with our global accounting team to ensure the complete processing of monthly foreign financial transactions into our global accounting system. Reconciliation of foreign office cash, advance accounts and checking to ensure field offices meet global requirements for field office reporting, is also part of the job. In addition this role supports and assists the controller in developing internal financial controls and accounting policies and procedures in compliance with local regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the RAMs globally to ensure the daily/monthly activities of the field transactions related to their HQ are sent on time to HQ.
  • Perform detail reviews of the field office monthly transactions, including that monthly bank reconciliations and petty cash/advances are in order, and enter the month’s report in the corporate accounting system for supervisor review/posting.
  • Provide oversight of the accuracy and timely recording of the day-to-day accounting transactions, including but not limited to banking, payroll, A/P, A/R, G/L, cash management, corporate credit cards, accounting systems and field office accounting consolidations;
  • Supports supervisor and global accounting team with month/year end closes, annual & benefits audits;
  • Proactively communicates regarding closes, audits, benefit audit, timecards, and others;
  • Supports the controller in day-to-day management of accounting staff;
  • Drives productive collaboration (coordination, communication) with other departments, such as finance, Development, HR ad Markets;
  • Maintaining effective communication within the accounting department, F&A, auditors and RA where relevant;
  • Serve as a backup for other team members as needed (Account Payables);
  • Successful completion of required filings annually;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A completed college degree (HBO) in Accountancy (preferred), Business Economics or Finance & Control;
  • Minimum 5-7 years relevant experience; non-profit sector experience a plus;
  • Dutch language skills a must
  • Strong management skills and supervisory experience in accounting or finance environment required;
  • Communication Skills: Effective oral and written communication skills and ability to multi-task, work in a multicultural, diverse, and highly deadline-driven environment;
  • Proficiency with accounting system software, expertise in Excel and report writing software;
  • Initiative, self-motivated, resourceful, detail-oriented, dependability, strong attention to detail.
