Description:

The Assistant General Manager post is an exciting opportunity to broaden and strengthen operational experience, and gain responsibility for a diverse service line of busy inpatient therapy specialties within an acute trust setting.
The role will be assisting with the operational management within the service line which is part of a supportive, inclusive, proactive Division. You will be responsible for day-to-day problem solving across all the specialties, managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders and opportunity to initiate high level strategic plans with support of line manager.

  • The post holder will hold responsibility for assisting with the day-to-day management of defined clinical areas and activities.
  • Require you to proactively work in close partnership with the team to drive improvement, embed change and standardise practice based on local requirements, national guidelines and clinical best practice.
  • You will be responsible for day-to-day operational management of the service line, as well as direct line management of the administrative team.
  • You will be responsible for providing support in a complex and rapidly changing service ensuring best practice ism et and that data quality and validation is delivered according to agreed timescales.
  • Develop independent problem-solving ability towards strategic decision making in order to deliver change initiatives and process efficiencies.

Key Result Areas

  • To support the Head of Service and Clinical Leads with patient pathway management and outcome data.
  • To support the Head of Service and Clinical Leads with patient pathway management and outcome data.
  • To provide front line day to day management of defined operational areas linking with the clinical leads in all matters affecting the delivery of core services.
  • To develop business proposals and assist the Service Lead in the implementation of business plans, operational strategies and delivery of Trust objectives.
  • To provide frontline management of the administration team.
  • To assist in maintain the delivery of patient pathways. To analyse complex data. To support and monitor the team to achieve this.
  • To participate in a wide range of meetings and to represent the Service Lead as requested.
  • To facilitate collaborative working across organisational boundaries.
  • Line management duties relating to recruitment, performance management, appraisal and development of staff within specific areas of the service line.
  • To carry out other duties as required from time to time as directed by the General Manager or the Divisional Director of Operations, Chief of Service and Divisional Nursing Director.

Training

  • Ensure you, and the staff under your line management are compliant with trust mandatory training and actively engaged the appraisal process
  • Engage with the trust HR teams to ensure line management is appropriately supported and delivered

  • Ensure a smart, professional image that enhances the public perception of the Trust and the professionalism of its staff is portrayed
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiating and influencing skills demonstrated through experience of working in complex demanding systems and environments, including the ability to persuade senior clinicians and managers to adopt new approaches

  • Report near misses and untoward incidents, identifying potential risks to patient care using the trusts incident recording and reporting system
