Your Opportunity:
Grande Prairie Regional Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse in a Benefit Eligible Casual Employee (BECE) position. A BECE position is a hybrid that combines the flexibility of casual employment and the mutual commitment of a regular position with Benefits. The Nursing Supervisor collaborates with clinical teams, and various agencies to facilitate patient admissions, discharges, intra-hospital and inter-facility transfer processes. This includes analyzing information to ensure appropriate placement in accordance with established policies and bed allocation criteria. The nursing supervisor collaborates with site leadership, physicians and nurses to balance the access demands of various departments. The nursing supervisor is a key resource for ensuring the effective and efficient use of available resources, including alignment/realignment of staffing resources, providing timely decisions regarding bed access and patient placement, and implementing contingency plans to support patient safety and staffing in accordance with collective agreements and AHS policies and procedures. The nursing supervisor participates in daily bed management meetings both at the facility and zone levels and effectively communicates resources and issues that may impact timely and effective bed management and maintains current and accurate information in bed management systems, along with reporting tools related to capacity. This role also coaches, mentors and supports staff to solve complex problems impacting patient care and safety by promoting a supportive, collaborative environment for all staff using a team approach. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
