As part of our continued growth, we are looking for an Assistant Headteacher to join our amazing team at Norton College in Tewkesbury.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Assistant Headteacher will be a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT). Assist the Head of School in leading and managing the College and take responsibility for the organisation and management of the College in the absence of the Head of School. The successful applicants will undertake such duties as are delegated by the Head of School.

MAIN TASKS

  • Maintaining and developing the ethos, values and overall purposes of the school.
  • To contribute to planning improvement, translating College aims and policies into actions.
  • Implementing Government directives into all College policies, in particularly on equal opportunity issues for all staff and pupils in relation to sex, gender, race, disability and special needs etc.
  • Have a leading role in maintaining the efficient organisation, management and supervision of College routines.
  • The development of SLT roles and responsibilities. These will be reviewed annually and may be subject to change in line with the needs of the College.

However, in particular be responsible to the Head of School for the following:

  • Pastoral Support
  • To support the Pastoral Assistant Headteacher in all aspects of the pastoral work of the College working closely with the Pastoral Manager.
  • Support allocated new staff through their induction period in terms of understanding effective pastoral support.
  • Curriculum Development and oversight Lead
  • Lead the ongoing development of the Curriculum across the College in accordance with the School Development Plan (SDP) and termly targets within.
  • Ensure that core subjects are taught to a high standard throughout the College, any areas of concern should be discussed through SLT, create an action plan for support/development if required, report back to SLT with weekly updates.
  • Examinations Officer Lead
  • Ensure that the College is compliant with the JCQ regulations and awarding body requirements in order to ensure the security and integrity of the examinations/assessments at all times.
  • To act on behalf of, and be the main point of contact for, the centre in matters relating to the general administration of awarding body examinations and assessments.
  • College Finance
  • Make effective use of staff expenses and staff mileage claims App for processing allocated staff expenses.
  • Process and keep accurate records of petty cash.
  • Student Rewards
  • Process and keep accurate records of student rewards.
  • To record and collate attendance to functional lessons and learning tasks, to generate weekly student rewards.
