About us:
The postholder will work in the Centre for Technology Enhanced Learning (CTEL) team, within the Students and Education Solutions department in the IT directorate.
The Centre for Technology Enhanced Learning (CTEL) purpose is to improve the digital experience for staff and students by providing pedagogic and technological expertise in learning technologies. CTEL have a university wide remit on innovative, sustainable, and scalable technology to support the student and staff learning and teaching experience.
About the role:
The Assistant Learning Technologist will support the design, development, delivery, and evaluation of King’s digital education initiatives (such as the Essential Digital Skills Programme) and projects. They will assist with the effective use of learning technologies, and provide advice, training, and guidance on the use of Moodle and other learning technologies.
The Assistant Learning Technologist will support the management team, Learning Technologists and project teams on the successful delivery and implementation of digital education applications. They will work closely with academic and professional services colleagues across King’s to help embed learning technologies to support teaching, learning and assessment activities.’
This is a full-time post, For 1 year fixed term Maternity-Cover.
About you: (the candidate)
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
1. Degree in Technology Enhanced Learning or Education or Degree in another subject or equivalent experience.
2. Practical knowledge of the use of VLEs (e.g. Moodle) and learning technologies within an educational setting.
3. Communication and presentation skills, including a high standard of English both in formal documents and writing for the web.
4. Producing high quality teaching and training resources for different audiences.
5. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to foster positive relationships with colleagues.
6. Ability to work independently and with others as part of the team
7. Positive and proactive approach to problem-solving with the ability to prioritise a varied workload.
8. Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines.
Desirable criteria
1. Project Management Certification
2. Understanding of the underlying pedagogy of TEL, including Instructional Design principles.
3. Experience delivering training sessions.
4. Experience of editing HTML and CSS code
