Description:
Reporting to the Store Manager, responsibilities for this position include the following:
- To oversee the daily store management ensuring adherence by management and staff to merchandising standards, marketing efforts, staff appearance, housekeeping and according to company expectations.
- To provide demonstrated, professional leadership and direction to the store team to create an ongoing, positive, highly motivated workforce within the liquor store.
- To work closely with the Wine, Spirits, and Beer Manager and the Sommelier and engage their expertise whenever possible.
- To ensure an acceptable level of customer service is provided at all times.
- To prepare, administer and be responsible for sales, margin, expenses, inventory and SPEH of the store.
- To be responsible for ordering products and supplies according to needs.
- To be responsible for inventory levels and turns of all liquor store commodities and to set action plans to address slow moving or deleted items.
- Ensure claims, invoices and all other paper work is done timely, accurately and meets policy and procedure.
- To schedule staff according to sales needs, ensuring SPEH targets are achieved and compliance with the Collective Agreement.
- To be responsible for and work with Human Resources on employee relations matters including hiring, training and development, performance management, recognition, discipline, terminations, and compliance with the Collective Agreement.
- To be responsible for the adherence and enforcement of Saskatoon Co-op Policies & Procedures and the Loss Prevention Program.
- To be responsible for the adherence to Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority (SLGA) operating guidelines.
- Provide demonstrated leadership and participate in all OH&S requirements, ensuring employees are knowledgeable about the compliance with OH&S policies, procedures and legislation.
- To ensure confidentiality regarding pricing, financial and marketing strategies, and Human Resources information.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Applicants must be at least 19 years of age.
- Completion of Grade 12 education or equivalent
- Two years of retail supervisory experience, with a preference being given to retail management experience.
- A combination of experience with wine, spirits and beer in a retail setting, related education and/or a strong business background will be considered an asset.
- Preference will be given to those who have completed, or are enrolled in, Level 1 Sommelier training.
- Applicants must be available to work mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends . They must also be available for calls after hours and emergencies.
- a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.
