POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Department of Clinical Studies at the University of Guelph invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position in Diagnostic Imaging. The position is full-time, but a fractional appointment will be considered if requested by eligible candidates.
Applicants must have a DVM (or equivalent) and be licensed or eligible for licensure to practice in the Province of Ontario. The applicant must be a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Radiology (ACVR) or European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging (ECVDI). Applications may also be considered from candidates who have completed an approved diagnostic imaging residency program and credentials for ACVR or ECVDI certification. A graduate degree and experience in research and teaching are desirable. Candidates must have demonstrated research capability. The ideal candidate should have strong skills in clinical diagnostic imaging and outstanding teaching and communication skills. The successful candidate will work with three board-certified specialists in diagnostic imaging to provide didactic and clinical instruction in diagnostic imaging and related disciplines to undergraduates, interns, residents, and graduate students.
Clinical service activities will include the management of patients and consultation in the OVC-Health Sciences Centre, including shared on-call duties and limited administrative activities. On-call duties will be remunerated, and the schedule will be shared with other faculty members in the section. The remaining effort is to be spent on scholarly activity, including research and supervision of graduate students. The candidate is expected to develop and participate in independent or collaborative research, and academic service activities.
The OVC-HSC offers state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment including but not limited to a 1.5 Tesla high field General Electric MRI, CT, digital radiology, state-of-the-art ultrasonography, scintigraphy, arthroscopy, total hip replacement, video endoscopy, and a 24/7 fully staffed intensive care facility.
