Description:

DESCRIPTION

Assistant Professor, Breast Oncology, on the Clinical Scholar pathway with an approximate 50:50 contribution to clinical service and academic pursuits
The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (Fred Hutch) and the University of Washington (UW) are jointly recruiting two (2) full-time faculty members specializing in research and clinical care of patients with breast cancer. These positions will be at the Assistant Professor level without tenure due to funding (WOT), commensurate with experience and qualifications in the Clinical Research Division of the Fred Hutch and the Division of Hematology and Oncology at UW.
The selected candidates will have the opportunity to participate in ongoing clinical and laboratory research programs related to the biology and treatment of breast cancer. In addition, the candidates will have the opportunity and resources to develop their own clinical research program. The position will also involve participation in the clinical and instructional activities of the Clinical Research Division and the Division of Hematology and Oncology. Fred Hutch and UW faculty engage in teaching, research, and service.
The primary appointment will be in the Clinical Research Division of Fred Hutch. University of Washington assistant professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments and associate professors WOT hold indefinite appointments that both align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. The position will report to the Senior Vice President (SVP) of the Clinical Research Division at Fred Hutch and the Division Head of Hematology and Oncology.
The successful candidates will be appointed in the Clinician Scholar track and will spend approximately 50% of time on clinical care. The remainder of the incumbents’ time will be protected for research, teaching, and mentorship.
