Position Description
The McGill University Department of Medicine in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism, invites applications for a full-time clinician-scientist position as a member of the Contract Academic Staff at the rank of Assistant Professor (Clinical) based at the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC). This is a Contract Academic Staff position and does not confer eligibility for tenure.

Job Duties
The successful candidate will be appointed to clinical practice in the Department of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism at the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC). The incumbent will have expertise and experience in endocrinology/metabolism research to establish or continue an internationally recognized independent research program. While all areas of Endocrinology research are eligible, preference will be given to research in the area of Public Health that may include population health, epidemiology, health economics, and health policy, in particular related to common Endocrine diseases such as diabetes/obesity, osteoporosis, thyroid disease and/or endocrine cancers.

As a Clinician-Scientist, the candidate will be expected to develop and maintain an independent and productive research program. The research program is expected to attract external peer reviewed funding (e.g. Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Fonds de Recherche Québec—Santé). Internal startup funding, including a research stipend for protected research time and operating funds, may be available on a competitive basis to a suitable candidate.
The successful candidate will be expected to collaborate with investigators in the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC), in particular with colleagues in the MeDiC (Metabolic Disorders and Complications) Program.
The incumbent will also be expected to contribute to the clinical activities of the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism, which includes ambulatory clinics, Endocrinology Consult Service, teaching of medical trainees, medical students, postgraduate medical residents, and endocrine residents, in both formal classroom and clinical settings. They will also be expected to contribute to, and participate in, committees and administrative activities of the Division of Endocrinology, and of the relevant Research Institute Program of the appointment.
The successful candidate will also be expected to be actively involved in all aspects of McGill’s academic mission (i.e., research, teaching, supervision of students and residents, and involvement in academic and administrative committees).

Qualifications and Education Requirements
Candidates must:
- Hold an MD degree, and be eligible for, licensure in the province of Quebec;
- Be certified by the Collège des Médecins du Québec;
- Be certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent);
- Have completed subspecialty training in Endocrinology and Metabolism;
- Have completed graduate research training with an MSc or PhD;
- Have postdoctoral research experience and have a track record of publications;
- Bilingual language skills (French and English) are preferred, or a commitment to acquire the necessary language skills to practice medicine in Quebec. Candidates should be able to interact in English and in French with patients, families and health care professionals.
