Description:
DESCRIPTION OF WORK UNIT
Throughout its history, the School of Social Work at Colorado State University has made a continuous effort to develop and maintain a program that is responsive to three distinct, but related, interests:
1. the profession of social work as represented by the Council on Social Work Education’s Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards;
2. the human services agencies and clients in the state, the region, the nation, and the globe; and
3. the land-grant oriented mission and goals of Colorado State University
POSITION SUMMARY
The Colorado State University (CSU) School of Social Work invites applications for multiple faculty positions at the assistant (tenure track) professor rank. The 9-month tenure track appointments will begin in August, 2025.
Applicants are sought who conduct research on health, behavioral health, health disparities, rural populations, environmental justice, or aging, with a specific focus on BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, disability, and/or other historically marginalized groups. Knowledge and experience around decolonizing and anti-oppressive approaches to research, teaching and service are expected.
Candidates are required to have a PhD in social work or a related discipline; demonstrated ability to conduct impactful scholarly research and publish in peer-reviewed venues; an active and well-articulated research agenda coupled with interest and ability to secure external grant funding; and ability to teach at the BSW, MSW, and/or PhD levels, and to advise graduate student research projects and/or doctoral dissertations. A preferred qualification is the ability to teach practice classes in the MSW program, which requires an MSW degree from an accredited social work program and a minimum of two (2) years post-master’s professional practice experience.
Applicants should have a personal and professional commitment to anti-racism, anti-oppression, disrupting settler colonialism, and pursuing social justice; be able to facilitate conversations around privilege, oppression, and intersecting social identities; and be committed to effective social advocacy to address structural inequities across local and global community systems, as demonstrated by involvement in teaching, research, creative activity, and/or service activities. We are seeking applicants who are committed to engaging students at all stages of their social justice journey, from the beginning stages of identifying and confronting bias to the more advanced stages of anti-oppressive practices and learning. As a School we seek an applicant who will affirm and support students, colleagues, leadership, alumni, and communities with whom they engage. We seek diversity and inclusion in our employees and students to broaden students’ academic experience and to enrich our campus community. We invite individuals with diverse identities to apply and appreciate and honor discussion of diversity in application materials.
