MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- A PhD in a geoscience discipline or a related field.
OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Evidence of the ability to teach outstanding introductory undergraduate and graduate geoscience courses commensurate with the candidate’s interest and expertise.
- Ability to develop and direct an externally funded research program in Geoscience Education and supervise graduate students.
- Strong focus on students and commitment to student success.
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of practices and procedures that impact student success both in traditional classroom and non-traditional learning environments.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- A record of experience and/or research in Geoscience Education.
- Interest in interdisciplinary collaborations across and beyond the geosciences.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
The Department of Marine, Earth, and Atmospheric Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in Geoscience Education, with a focus on geoscience pedagogy. Exceptionally qualified candidates at higher ranks will also be considered.
We are seeking a colleague whose research and teaching interests are rooted in geoscience education, particularly within the affective, behavioral, and cognitive domains of learning. The successful candidate will focus on one or more areas of the geosciences, including the geosphere, hydrosphere/cryosphere, or atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a cutting-edge, rigorous research program that is externally funded.
- Design and deliver high-quality undergraduate and graduate courses in geoscience education and related fields.
- Foster a learning environment that supports diverse student populations, focusing on innovative pedagogical practices.
- Engage in interdisciplinary research with opportunities to collaborate with scientists and education professionals across NC State.
- Participate in departmental, college, and university service activities.
