Applications are invited for the post of Assistant Professor in the School of Geography. We are seeking to appoint an academic to make a significant impact within the broad research and teaching area of Human Geography, within or across our existing research themes; i) Cultural and Historical Geography, ii) Economic and Political Worlds, iii) Environment, Health and Society.

The successful candidate will be expected to generate new intellectual understanding and to apply for external funding to enable development of independent research. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to teaching at all levels within the School, including the delivery of core undergraduate modules. A range of administrative duties to support the operation of the School will also be undertaken.
Applicants must have a PhD or equivalent in a relevant subject area or equivalent extensive professional/research experience along with teaching experience. Applicants should have a track record of high-quality published research commensurate with their career stage and relevant teaching experience.
Candidates should supply a CV and publication list, along with a covering letter explaining why they are suitable for the role in their application. Details of teaching and administrative experience and the areas of their research expertise should also be included.
The post is offered on a full time (36.25 hours per week), permanent contract and is available from August 2025.
