Description:

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Department of Management (DoM) in the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics (Lang) at the University of Guelph is seeking applications for a tenure track management position at the rank of Assistant Professor. We are looking for exceptional candidates who demonstrate a strong commitment to student engagement, transformative pedagogy, impactful scholarship, and meaningful community involvement.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach Management 1000 Introduction to Business (a broad course that is mandatory for all BComm Undergraduate students, meant to inspire, educate and build an understanding of complex and current management issues) and other courses in the management program, develop or continue an active research program with high-quality publications, pursue external research funding (particularly tri-agency or equivalent), advise and mentor graduate students, and engage in collaborative research opportunities with faculty in management, within the Lang School of Business and Economics, and the broader scholarly community. The anticipated start date for this appointment is July 1, 2025, or another mutually agreed-upon date in 2025. The role’s distribution of effort is expected to be 40% teaching, 40% scholarship, and 20% service.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A PhD in management or a closely related field (ABD candidates will be considered if they are near completion).
  • Scholarly interests focused on strategy, project management, entrepreneurship, business analytics, or innovation.
  • Strong potential to produce high-quality publications in the field.
  • Evidence of a robust research pipeline and the ability to secure external research funding.
  • Potential to teach and demonstrate pedagogical innovation in undergraduate, graduate (MBA, MSc), and/or PhD-level courses in management.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated success in securing research grants.
  • A proven record of at least one publication in high-quality, peer-reviewed journals (e.g., “A” or “B” level, first quartile), as recognized by reputable journal quality lists such as ABDC, SJR, or Harzing.
  • Willingness and proficiency in delivering courses across various formats, including in-person, online, and hybrid methods.
  • A clear interest in teaching MGMT 1000: Introduction to Business
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Active engagement in service activities.
