The Role
We are looking to recruit an Assistant Professor (Teaching), to lead the design and development of modules for both undergraduate and postgraduate level courses within the Mental Health Nursing portfolio. You will be responsible for leading the delivery of teaching, learning and assessment, contributing to the course quality monitoring and enhancement and working with range of external partners and stakeholders.
As an Assistant Professor (Teaching) you will undertake teaching and module leadership while supporting the development and delivery of programs with innovative teaching and learning approaches to enhance student experience. You will contribute to curriculum development by actively participating in School’s Curriculum Review and Transformation.
Assistant Professor (Teaching lead on aspects of the student learning experience including the leadership of staff teams. Based within the School of Health and Care you will work with and lead other academic colleagues to enrich the student learning and teaching experience ensuring relevant aspects of research, enterprise and professional context are embedded in modules and courses.
Qualifications Required
A current and active NMC Registration is essential for this role
PhD or active membership of an appropriate professional body would be advantageous
Master’s degree in an appropriate subject (if from a professional practice background) OR a good Honours Degree and an appropriate professional qualification and/or membership
A teaching qualification or extensive experience of delivering professional and/or university education
Our Successful Candidate
You will be NMC registered with demonstrable experience of successful teaching at higher education and/or substantial experience and expertise across a range of areas within Mental Health Nursing practice.
You will be an experienced team leader who is enthusiastic and self-motivated individual with high-quality presentation skills, ability to mentor and coach other members of the team.
You will have experience in the development and enhancement of an ‘active learning’ pedagogy, along with a good level of digital fluency and experience creating teaching materials for face to face and online teaching.
As a global education provider, high levels of cultural awareness with experience of learner’s cultural differences and expectations with the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds is essential. Innovation and collaboration are key to our success, therefore the ability to generate and follow through innovative ideas, work both independently and part of a wider team with the willingness to engage in flexible ways of working are key skills required for this role.
