Applications are invited for a one-year, limited-term position in Strategy and Global Management (SGMA) in the Haskayne School of Business (School) at the University of Calgary. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor. The appointment start date is January 1st, 2025. Contingent on budget and area need, this appointment may be renewable for one year.
Duties of the position include teaching both field-specific (e.g., strategic management, international business) and general business courses (e.g., introduction to business skills) at the undergraduate and graduate levels and providing professional service for the School, the University, and the community. The successful candidate will be expected to engage in research and scholarship required to maintain currency in pedagogy and curriculum design as well as scholarly activities that strengthen the knowledge base and expertise of an instructor. Salary will depend on qualifications, experience, and a teaching record.

QUALIFICATIONS

Faculty in the SGMA area at the Haskayne School of Business are engaged in a range of teaching, including strategic management, international business, business law, and energy transition and sustainability. We expect candidates for the position to meet the following requirements:

  • Formal business education (an MBA or equivalent degree and a B.Comm. degree);
  • A PhD or DBA degree in management or a related field is preferred;
  • Expertise in strategic management and/or international business, with industry experience being an asset;
  • Evidence of effective teaching in the area of strategic management and/or international business at the post-secondary level, as demonstrated by excellent student evaluations;
  • Evidence of successful course development;
  • Proficiency with online instruction and expertise in the use of virtual learning resources and practices is an asset;
  • Administrative skills required to coordinate multi-section courses;
  • Evidence of successful teamwork and a collegial approach to interacting with colleagues, students, and other stakeholders;
  • Willingness to engage in service to the school, university, and profession.
