Description:
The University of Luxembourg is an international research university with a distinctly multilingual and interdisciplinary character.
The Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine of the University of Luxembourg is looking for Assistant Professor (Tenure-track) or Associate Professor in Pharmacology / Toxicology or Computational Pharmacology for itsDepartment of Life Sciences and Medicine (DLSM).
The rank will depend on the professional qualification of the candidate and in case of an appointment as Assistant Professor, an evaluation will take place after five years (Tenure track).
The Department of Life Sciences and Medicine (DLSM) belongs to the Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine of the University of Luxembourg. We combine basic and translational, biomolecular and computational research to address critical questions in human health and disease with a focus on cancer biology. We investigate mechanisms that govern tumor initiation, migration and invasion, metastasis, cell cycle control, the tumor microenvironment and drug resistance by using a combination of experimental in vitro, in vivo and in silico approaches. Next to its research mission, DLSM is coordinating all teaching programs in Life Sciences, Medicine, Nursing, and Allied Health Professions.
Health and Medicine is a strategic priority of the University of Luxembourg and is in a phase of ambitious development. This provides opportunities for broadening our research topics to include cutting-edge trends in medical/biomedical sciences. This strategic development requires additional expertise in teaching pharmacology in various fields (Medicine, Life sciences, Nursing, and Allied Health Professions).
Responsibilities:
You are an expert in Pharmacology/Toxicology and will lead your own research group. Candidates applying computational tools (e.g. machine learning, artificial intelligence or other approaches) are also encouraged to apply. You will teach pharmacology-related courses in the Bachelors of Life Sciences, Medicine, Nursing, and Allied Health Professions, as well as in related Master programs. You will participate in the coordination of the Bachelor in Life Sciences.
