JOB SUMMARY

The College of Arts & Sciences at University of Colorado Boulder invites applications for three (3) tenure-track faculty at the level of Assistant Professor in diverse areas of neuroscience. Our goal is to co-recruit junior faculty with synergistic interests to build interdepartmental connections via cellular/molecular, physiological, and behavioral neuroscience. Candidates will be hired into an appropriate department: Psychology & Neuroscience (PSYC/NRSC), Integrative Physiology (IPHY), and Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology (MCDB), with additional possible connections to Institutes and Centers. These departments bring distinctive scholarly strengths in lifespan physiology, including reproduction, development, and aging (IPHY), neural basis of behavior and tools to image and manipulate the brain (PSYC/NRSC), and in neurodevelopment and neurological disorders using cellular and molecular technologies (MCDB). Underlying these themes are an emphasis on genetics from model systems to human, mechanistic foundations of neurocognition during fetal and adolescent development to adult, and advanced imaging technologies and manipulation of brain development and wiring. We encourage cutting edge and collaborative research that transcends traditional disciplinary boundaries. PSYC/NRSC, IPHY, and MCDB recognize that excellence is achieved only by fostering an inclusive community that provides equitable opportunities for all students, staff, and faculty.
Applicants are required to hold a doctoral degree (PhD, MD/PhD, or DPhil) in a life science discipline which includes, but is not limited to, neuroscience, biology, genetics, psychology and physiology. Accomplishments during graduate and post-graduate training should have stamped the candidate as a creative and promising investigator. If the individual does not have formal teaching experience, they should have demonstrated a commitment to develop the skills for first rate teaching. The appointed individuals are expected to establish an independent, externally-funded research program and contribute to departmental teaching and mentoring of the next generation of scientists in order to earn tenure.
We are especially eager to consider applicants who will support and elevate the CU Boulder commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, and foster an environment of inclusive collaborative excellence where all faculty can thrive. The cohort will be offered structured mentorship and sponsorship that will empower their scientific and professional development and facilitate their social and cultural integration into our larger University of Colorado scientific community.
